Challenges and learnings of test automation in a complex environment of a major Swiss bank

Imre Varga, Test Automation Engineer at Quality. Now

Pascal Gyger, Lead Test Automation Engineer at progile

After the UI framework of the fraud management software of a prominent Swiss bank changed, all of the automated test cases stopped working. Without automation, only the most important features of the software could be tested manually, which still caused high risk and high costs—worst case scenario.

This led to the decision to replace the test automation tool. Besides the immense problem of broken test cases, the automation was not as stable as it could be. And here starts the journey and talk of Pascal and Imre.

They will take you on their recent project and show you how they solved this challenge and what they learned from it.

You get insights on:

- What to keep in mind when you automate tests in a complex environment

- Tipps how you avoid such a worst-case scenario of complete failure of all test cases after an update of the software under test

- What is essential for every test automation project that often is forgotten
